Peculiarities of American Fishing
In the USA, you won’t see a huge number of fishermen in rivers and lakes. Ice fishing is especially rare there. However, there are plenty of fishing enthusiasts there too. America is washed by two oceans rich in fish, so here they catch peaceful and predatory fish both in lakes and rivers, and in salt waters.
The USA consists of states, and each of them has its own prohibitions and restrictions. If a fisherman does not carefully study the fishing laws before fishing and because of this becomes an offender, then he will face impressive fines. For example, many rules in the state of Utah are no longer valid in the state of Florida, and so on in all states.
It is quite difficult for foreigners to understand the rather strange and unusual fishing rules in the USA. Firstly, you can’t just come to a reservoir here. You must buy a license, since fishing is only for a fee throughout the country. One license is valid only in the state in which it was purchased.
You can buy a license for a whole year at once and then not think about anything and not worry about possible fines. The cost of a license varies in different states, but it is inexpensive everywhere. On average, 40-50 dollars per year. If this is in rubles, then about 4 thousand per year. For rich Americans, this is pennies. After all, they always have money for expensive cars and overseas trips, they are not used to saving like we are.
Prohibitions and restrictions for fishermen in the USA
If an American has bought a license, this does not mean that everything is now allowed. Here you cannot just make fires on the shore, stay for night fishing and cook fish soup right next to the reservoir. This is not in the traditions of American fishermen and often it is simply not included in the purchased license. Also, the license allows you to catch only a strictly defined amount of fish. The document always specifies which types of fish are prohibited to take. If a fisherman catches 30 kg of fish, and the license does not allow this, then he can also be fined. If you can only take small salmon, then large ones should be released. After all, in America even a fishing neighbor can snitch to inspectors about a violating fisherman, here this is considered the norm.
